Picture was taken last February 28, 2010. I didn't expect to see a Mahogany plantation in this remote island south of Negros province in the Visayas region. There is even a Gmelina tree in the middle of this shot alongside a coconut tree. And to think that Apo Island is part of a protected marine sanctuary. I just think that preservation of its diverse flora and fauna should also be strictly implemented and that exotic species such as the Mahogany, Gmelina, Ipil-ipil, which are also present in Apo Island be banned, most especially in protected sanctuaries wherein greater biodiversity flourishes.
